The Biblioteca Marciana, situated in the heart of Venice, is an architectural and intellectual gem that stands as a testament to the city's rich cultural heritage. 

 

Also known as the National Library of St. Mark's, it was commissioned by the Republic of Venice in the 16th century to house an extensive collection of manuscripts and printed materials. 

 

The library was designed by Jacopo Sansovino and later completed by Vincenzo Scamozzi.

 

The magnificent facade with its Doric ground floor and an Ionic 1st floor is richly adorned adorned with sculptures and classical elements .
